Elisabeth Tomlinson is a London based transdisciplinary artist whose work is rooted in the working class, rural, queer feminist perspective and is expressed in writing, moving image, textiles, installation, teaching, and performance. Holding in parallel personal and collective histories, Elisabeth’s work questions reproduction of knowledge and the construction of self. Depictions of family, religion, the psyche, and relational intimacy are tied to the socialised learning we endure as citizens of our families, nations, and cultures.

Elisabeth was awarded the prestigious Mona Hatoum Scholarship (CSM, 2020-2021), the Waseda Visiting Scholar Award (UCL and Waseda University, Japan, 2017) as well as the Central Academy of Fine Art Sculpture Fellowship Award (Beijing, 2016). She has published research on transdisciplinary arts education and practice with the Institute of Education, University College London as well as research on independent art spaces in London published through CreditX projects and Central Saint Martins. She was a selected participant in Autograph Gallery’s “PILOT: Rights, Care, Future” (2020) course and completed a writing residency at Unit 1 Gallery Workshop (2019-2020).

Her work has been exhibited internationally in London, Los Angeles, New York, Beijing, Lisbon, and Cairo.
