On the one hand this series celebrates sensitivity, sensuality, and tenderness and on the other, exploits of the intimacy shared in private, for the sake of a public statement. The creative process deepened the intimacy in making it an event of significance, closely observed and purposefully cultivated. Dichotomously, it established distance through the process of manipulation in editing, and the exhibitionism of display. The outcome both revels in and mocks intimacy and therefore the very premise of the project is refuted by the process of accomplishing it. There is also a contradictory relationship between the genuine and artificial. What’s recorded is genuine, unrehearsed interaction, the outcome is a deliberate curation of footage and soundbites which both idealises and critiques. Opposing dialogues are pulled from different conversations to trace lines of contradiction. In the end, this series questions power within intimacy, and whether they are synonymous or mutually exclusive
